We are inspired to follow LifeWays theory & practice while working with children in our care along with RIE.. It is part of the Waldorf movement & specifically addresses young children in child care.

LifeWays practices are based upon healthy sense development; continuity of care; development of mind and body; an enlivened experience of the domestic, nurturing, and creative arts; and the development of healthy social interactions. These guiding principles are applied at Apple Blossom. These practices are inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner and the 95-year experience of Waldorf Education and are supported by contemporary early childhood research, as well as the common sense wisdom of many generations of parents & teachers.

At this tender age, children are learning about movement! Most have learned to walk & now test their body’s limits by climbing, running & tasting everything that they can! It’s a busy time & the most active of the age groups. We are sure to take them on daily walks along with outdoor exploring in our play yard. This is a time to set gentle & consistent boundaries so they can learn to follow the rhythm & grow in a safe & stimulating environment. They are usually playing parallel to one another & watch each other closely. There will be some interacting with one another, but mostly a time to observe their friends & learn sense of body. “They are there, I am here.”
